OUR STORY
Established in 2016, Chhedlagan Farmers Producer Company Ltd. (CFPCL) is a community-based enterprise founded by Self Employed Workers’ Association Kendra (SEWAK) with the active support of NABARD, Bhubaneswar. The company was formed to empower small and marginal farmers in the tribal-dominated regions of Sundargarh district, particularly in the villages of Sahebdera, Masabira, Dhangergudi, and Budapahad—areas that were earlier part of SEWAK’s watershed development initiatives.
CFPCL’s core mission is to enhance the livelihoods of local farmers by promoting sustainable and improved cultivation practices for crops such as paddy, pulses, and vegetables. The organization plays a vital role in facilitating market linkages, promoting agri-business opportunities, and introducing modern agricultural technologies to its members. At its inception, the company was driven by 10 visionary Board Directors and Promoters, all committed to fostering agricultural growth and self-reliance in the region.
The name "Chhedlagan" derives from the locally revered Chhedlagan Dam (officially known as Sarafgarh Dam), a symbol of life and sustenance for the surrounding villages. This name resonates with the identity and aspirations of the local farming community, blending traditional agricultural heritage with a forward-looking vision for prosperity and resilience.

INFRASTRUCTURE
A Solar Powered Millets Service Centre has been established at the SEWAK Campus, Rangiamunda, through a collaborative initiative between SEWAK and the Selco Foundation. Under this partnership, SEWAK provided the building infrastructure, while Selco Foundation extended support by installing solar-powered machinery and the required solar energy system to operate the facility.
The Service Centre is equipped with four essential machines to ensure effective millet processing:
De-Stoner Machine – for removing stones and heavy impurities.
Huller – for de-husking millet grains.
Cleaner-cum-Finisher Machine – for final cleaning and grading.
Pulveriser – for converting millet grains into flour or powder form.
Local farmers bring their harvested millets to the Centre, where the grains are processed efficiently using these machines. The processed millets, free from impurities and ready for sale, offer better market value.
The Chhedlagan Farmers Producer Company Ltd. (CFPCL) operates the Centre and charges a nominal processing fee to make the service affordable for small and marginal farmers.
This initiative not only promotes millet cultivation and value addition but also strengthens sustainable and decentralized agri-processing powered by clean energy.
Rice Bran Separation Processing Unit
In April 2025, a Rice Husk Processing Unit was established at the SEWAK Campus, Rangiamunda by Chhedlagan Farmers Producer Company Ltd. (CFPCL). The unit is equipped with a specialized machine that processes rice husk and separates it into three distinct components:
Rice Bran
Broken Rice Particles
Waste Husk
Each component has its own utility and market value. After processing, the rice bran, broken rice, and waste husk are sold to different companies and firms engaged in livestock feed production, food processing, and fuel or compost manufacturing.
This unit adds value to what was previously considered agricultural waste, creating new income opportunities and promoting sustainable use of by-products in the farming ecosystem.
Cold Press Oil Processing Unit – Empowering Women Through Value Addition
Chhedlagan Farmers Producer Company Ltd. (CFPCL) has set up a Cold Press Oil Processing Unit at the SEWAK Complex, Rangiamunda, with a focus on promoting rural livelihoods and enhancing value addition to locally grown oilseeds. This unit is a step toward creating sustainable income opportunities for Self Help Group (SHG) members, especially women.
The processing unit specializes in the cold press extraction of oil from mustard (sarson), groundnut (moongphali), and sesame (til). Cold press technology ensures that the oils are extracted without the use of heat or chemicals, preserving their natural aroma, taste, and nutritional value. These oils are in high demand for their purity and health benefits.
What makes this initiative unique is the active involvement of SHG women members, who are trained and engaged in the operations of the unit. From raw seed handling to oil extraction and packaging, the entire process is managed locally, allowing women to develop skills and earn a dignified livelihood.
By marketing these oils under the brand promoted by Chhedlagan FPC, the unit ensures fair pricing for farmers and SHG members, while offering pure, chemical-free oils to health-conscious consumers.
This initiative not only contributes to women's economic empowerment but also aligns with CFPCL's mission of promoting agro-based rural enterprises and building resilient farming communities.
Solar-Powered Dal Processing Unit – Sustainable Innovation for Rural Prosperity
Chhedlagan Farmers Producer Company Ltd. (CFPCL), with the support of SEWAK and Selco Foundation, has established a Solar Powered Dal Processing Unit at the SEWAK Complex in Rangiamunda to process raw Arhar Dal (Tur Dal). The unit is equipped with energy-efficient machinery such as cleaners, dehuskers, graders, and splitters, all powered by a solar system provided by Selco Foundation, ensuring sustainable, cost-effective, and eco-friendly operations. This initiative enables local farmers and SHG members to process their raw pulses into high-quality, market-ready dal, enhancing shelf life, reducing transportation losses, and increasing profitability. By integrating clean energy with agro processing, the unit not only promotes rural employment and value addition but also reflects CFPCL’s commitment to sustainable development, climate resilience, and farmer empowerment.
Solar Powered Millet Processing unit
A Solar Powered Millets Processing Unit has been established at the SEWAK Complex in Rangiamunda with the support of SEWAK and Selco Foundation to promote clean energy and value addition in millet-based products. This unit is equipped to process Ragi and other millet varieties into nutritious products such as Ragi (Finger Millet) Powder, Shourgam Powder, and Bajra Powder. Powered by solar energy, the unit ensures eco-friendly and cost-effective operations while enabling local farmers and SHG members to access processing facilities that enhance the market value of their produce. This initiative reflects Chhedlagan Farmers Producer Company Ltd.’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, rural enterprise development, and climate-smart food systems.
Transportation facility
Chhedlagan Farmers Producer Company Ltd. has strengthened its logistics and transportation infrastructure by deploying a Bolero Pick-Up Van and a Battery Operated Auto to support the efficient movement of agricultural produce and processed goods. These vehicles are used for transporting raw materials from farmers’ fields to processing units and delivering finished products like dal, millet powders, and cold-pressed oils to local markets and collection centers. The battery-operated auto promotes eco-friendly transportation within short distances, while the Bolero Pick-Up ensures timely and bulk movement over longer routes. This facility enhances market connectivity, reduces post-harvest delays, and supports the company’s goal of creating a reliable and sustainable value chain for its farmer members.
